Précision sur l'inscription :	Epitaphe : Arrête, passant, déplore le destin de ces jeunes. Ci gisent rassemblés dans un même tombeau, trois jeunes hommes de la maison de Xaintrailles, Henri, Anne, le chevalier Charles, au combat émule de Torquatus (?). Ils portaient au coeur le culte qu'ont les jeunes gens pour leurs parents. Ils avaient pour ancêtres les rois d'Ecosse, Eudes, duc d'Aquitaine, deux vices-rois de Naples, et les ducs de Lorraine, Poton, enfin, suprême honneur de la race, préfet de la cavalerie du roi, comte du royaume, général en chef des armées : ce sont là, aïeul et père, des héros dont le courage à la guerre surpasse toute réputation. Va, passant, pleure le destin de ces jeunes (traduction des 14 lignes gravées en écriture cursive penchée, dans le rectangle intérieur). Date : Fait le 7 janvier 1650 (à la fin de l'inscription). Inscription : PMPF (quatre majuscules, qui précèdent le texte). Armoiries : (au nombre de deux, gravées au-dessus de l'inscription).
