Historique :	Cette peinture de Charles Crès datée 1887 illustre un des événements annuels de la vie du collège militaire de La Flèche, très précisément la fête de l'année précédente, avec une très grande précision qui en fait un véritable document historique comme toutes ses oeuvres. Cette composition a été précédée d'une série d'études des différents éléments, dans la grande tradition de l'école de David.
