Précision sur l'inscription :	Inscription : Fête républicaine. Les statues de la Liberté et de la Vérité et les bustes de de Marat et de Le Peletier sont promenées en grande pompe sur les ruines de la Bastille (1797) ; inscription (sur l'un des trophées) : Vivre libre ou mourir.
Précision_sur la representation :	Sur un fond de ruines, une procession traverse le paysage de droite à gauche. Au centre, un arbre, une statue émergent de la foule. La statue blanche évoque un dieu égyptien. Un peu en arrière, on distingue la statue de la République assise, tenant de la main droite une poque portant au bout un bonnet phrygien et une couronne de lauriers de l'autre. Elle est elle-même couronnée d'un diadème et vêtue à l'antique. Tout autour, les personnages officiels vêtus à la romaine d'une tunique blanche bordée d'un liseré tricolore, d'une cape brune et chaussés de sandales. Ils portent des trophées avec des inscriptions.
