Historique :	Appartient à un ensemble de 17 portraits de famille avec leurs cadres qui représentent les ancêtres des actuels propriétaires. Ensemble qui est resté au sein de la même famille depuis le milieu du 18e siècle. Né le 4 mai 1718, mort le 22 mai 1797, fils de Jeanne Pelliot de la Garde et de René de Vanssay. Il entre aux mousquetaires noirs en 1734 et est décoré de la croix de l'ordre de Saint-Louis. Le 19 mai 1749 il épouse au Mans Denis-François de Renusson d'Hauteville. Charles René de Vanssay eut cinq enfants dont Renée Gabrielle, épouse de Géraud Ogier d'Ivry. Il acquiert le château en 1758?

Précision_sur la representation :	Portrait en buste. Charles René de Vanssay est représenté âgé d'une quarantaine d'années. Il est coiffé d'une grande perruque blanche ondulée et porte une armure décorée de motifs dorés, un foulard blanc noué autour du cour, et un manteau bleu nuit jeté sur l'épaule droite.
