Historique :	Ce tableau a très certainement été offert à l'église de Ballon dans la première moitié du 19e siècle par le général Louis Coutard (1769-1852), originaire de Ballon, grand officier de la Légion d'Honneur et gentilhomme de la chambre du roi Louis XVIII. Très attaché à sa ville natale, le général Coutard donna des sommes considérables pour réparer, agrandir et décorer son église. Cette toile évoque la production des peintres parisiens actifs au milieu du 17e siècle, proches de l'atticisme, un courant pictural dérivé du classicisme (pièce jointe au dossier).
